Material fee for the semester is $15.  (Each period is $5, except 3rd period, which is nap time for the Preschool class, so there is no material fee for 3rd period.)  Supplies and note to parents detailed below

Spanish (1st – 3rd )

Description: Introduction to Spanish including basic vocabulary building. We will learn through books, songs, flashcards and bingo how to speak the basics of Spanish.

Elementary Music (1st – 3rd )

Description: Introduction to notes, rhythm, melody and simple instruments.

PE (4th -6th )

Description: Fun, physical activity done in large group games that work on team work and hand-eye coordination.

Myth Busters (4th -6th )

Prerequisites: None.

Description: Myth Busters class will explore different scientific ideas through trial and error.

Jewelry Making (7th - 12th)

Teacher: Mary Dulas

Prerequisites: None

Description: In this class, you will learn basic wire working techniques, stringing, bead weaving, and fiber working (i.e. macramé bracelets)

Yearbook (7th - 12th)

Prerequisites: MUST HAVE TEACHER PERMISSION/APPROVAL FOR REGISTRATION

Description: Come be a part of making a quality H.O.P.E. Yearbook.

Supplies: Helpful if student has laptop (Publisher 2007 or 2010) and/or camera to bring each Friday to use.

Homework: Possible if work during school and afterschool if assignments are not completed in class by semester's end.

Biblical Manhood (7th -12th )

Teacher: Josh Edgren

Prerequisites: Must be male (obviously)

Description: In our culture, true manhood has been lost. This class will explore what it means to be a Man of God. Students will also learn basic, practical, manly skills such as orienteering, knot tying and fire starting.

Homework: Not more than 2 hours each week

What In The World? (7th -12th )

Prerequisites: None

Description: Try foods from other countries. Find out how people around the world are different and the same. Learn where these places are and what is interesting about them.

Dr. Seuss on the Loose (1st-3rd)

Teacher: Shannon Ness

Prerequisites: Beginning reader/writer. Must be able to recognize and write alphabet.

Description: Journey through the Dr. Seuss books while practicing your reading, writing and thinking skills for the beginning and/or resistant writing student.

Puppets (4th -8th )

Teacher: Shari Myers

Prerequisites: None

Description: Come make your very own puppet and then perform in a puppet show during the Friends and Family Night on April, 27th. If you take this class, please plan on being at the Friends and Family Night for the production.

Supplies: If your student doesn’t like any of the material I have, they can bring their own to dress their puppet however they want.

Introduction to Photography (4th -12th )

Teacher: Krystal Beadle/Meranda Huffman

Prerequisites: Students MUST have their own digital camera to use for this class.

Description: Students will learn basic camera operation as well as the fundamentals of picture taking. First priority is given to students who were NOT in Fall 2011 class.

Choir (4th -12th )

Teacher: Chris VanBuskirk

Prerequisites: Enjoy singing!

Description: Choir is for students who want to work hard, sincerely learn or continue learning to sing. Basic musical score training will be taught so the students will know what is happening in the music. Each student will be expected to work hard in class, studying their music, words and vocal part, whether it is a harmony or melody. Vocal sectionals will be rehearsed for parts. This class will be a hard working class that will stretch the student’s abilities and help them in performing quality music, yet at the same time, we will have a great time and some fun learning. Home rehearsal is also required! This class is graded!

Apologia Physical Science (7th -12th) FULL YEAR CLASS

Teacher: Davina Derrickson

Prerequisites: Apologia General Science. Be ready to study!

Description: This is a high school level course covering the physical sciences using the Apologia Physical Science curriculum.

Draw/Write (1st – 3rd )

Description: Learn to draw simple objects, then write about them. This class is creativity based with students working at their own level.

Paper Crafts (1st -3rd)

 Description: Students will be making a several different projects from paper such as mini-cards, treat bags and more!

Explorers of North America (4th -8th )

Prerequisites: None

Description: Introduction to explorers of North America. Your student will learn and make pocket books that will include Lewis & Clark, Christopher Columbus, Henry Hudson and more!

IEW: Student Writing Intensive (5th -8th )

Teacher: Brandy Davenport

Prerequisites: A willingness to learn new strategies for writing and participation in class.

Description: Does your child hate writing? Come watch Andrew Pudewa’s DVD writing series with us. He makes writing look easy because he tells us exactly what to write by modeling strategies that work!

Material Fees: $25

Supplies: Student notebook will be purchased by teacher. Writing pens (NOT PENCILS) and notebook paper..

Homework: 1 hour per week may be required.

Mini-Drama(4th - 12th )

Teacher: Jaquie Miller

Description: Students will practice and perform in a theater production by performing, making costumes, props and make up.

Material Fees: $20

Supplies: Additional cost for costumes will be expected but not much.

Homework: 1-3 hours each week practicing lines at home as well as at Co-op.

Yearbook (7th - 12th)

Native American History (1st -3rd)

Description: Students will make a 9 pocket portfolio of projects, stores and activities as they are introduced to Native American history.

Grandma Honey’s “Imagine” (1st – 3rd)

Teacher: Darlene Bohanan (Grandma Honey)

Description: Come have fun as you learn songs and make crafts with Grandma Honey. It will be a time of developing quality learning, caring, sharing, and creating.

First Aid (4th - 8th )

Description: Come learn the basics of first aid and how to handle yourself in a crisis. Hands-on practice as well as some book work will help to be prepared in a basic emergency.

Meet the Masters (4th - 8th )

Teacher: Trina Carpenter

Prerequisites: None

Description: Students will be introduced to the “masters” of art within the 6 given different mediums and then have the opportunity to create their own work. These are all new master of art different from 1st semester so students who took this class in Fall 2011 can take this too!

Faith Booking (7th -12th )

Teacher: Mandy Biddulph

Prerequisites: None

Description: Students will be making a beautiful book that walks them through their faith. They will be assigned Bible verses and asked to reflect on it, write about what it means to them and design a page for it.

Material Fees: $25

Supplies: Bible, glue sticks, scissors, colored pencils, paper trimmer if you have one, pictures from home (Students MUST be willing to cut pictures down if necessary).

Homework: 1 hour a week possibly more depending upon the student

Drill Team (7th - 12th )

Teacher: Monica Ingalls

Prerequisites: None

Description: Drill team will be performing in the 4 Daffodil Parades on Saturday, April 14th. Each girl is required to have good endurance and to memorize and perfect the routine at home to represent HOPE Co-op throughout Pierce County.

Supplies: Outfits to be determined-There will be an outfit fee of approximately $30

Homework: Practice routine at home in addition to as a group at Co-op.

Dodgeball & Stuff (7th - 12th )

Teacher: Becky Keene

Prerequisites: Student must have a desire to participate in games; teacher has right to ask students find another class if not willing to participate.

Description: Fun, physical activity done in large group games that work on team work and hand-eye coordination.
